The father of construction defect law in Nevada
Bob graduated with honors from Brown University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations. He received his law degree in 1970 from the highly esteemed Harvard Law School.
Bob is often referred to as “the father of construction defect law in Nevada” because he played the leading role in creating Nevada’s first construction defect statute (NRS), Chapter 40. NRS Chapter 40 gives Nevada homeowners and community associations the right to receive full compensation for faulty construction.
On January 1, 2009, Bob partnered with Norberto (“Norby”) Cisneros to form Maddox & Cisneros, LLP.
Bob has worked exclusively as an unpaid lobbyist for Nevada community associations and homeowners in the Nevada State Legislature in every session since 1995.
Bob is frequently asked to lecture about legal issues facing community associations and homeowners, and he has appeared on all major Nevada television networks in connection with his work to protect the people of Nevada from construction defects.
He has been awarded an AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating given to any individual attorney in the United States. Bob is widely recognized by other attorneys and judges as a leading authority on Nevada community association and construction defect laws.
The Justices of the Nevada Supreme Court named Bob a trustee of the Nevada Law Foundation, the entity that administers funds generated from lawyers’ trust accounts to persons who could not otherwise afford legal representation. Bob is also a lifetime colleague of the Nevada Law Foundation.
Bob has been elected and served as President of the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association and has been recognized as the Trial Lawyer of the Year by the Nevada Trial Lawyers Association.
Bob has been honored as a Friend of Nevada’s Working Families by the AFL-CIO for his longtime commitment to Nevada’s working families.
In 2015 Bob was nominated for the Nevada Justice Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
Under Bob’s leadership, his firm has recovered more than $300 million on behalf of Nevadans victimized by faulty construction.
Bob Maddox is now semi-retired. He enjoys hiking, biking, skiing, swimming, and traveling.
